Man Arrested in Singapore After the Unreleased Avatar Aang Film Leaked Online

Paramount says the leak didn't come from inside the studio. The likeliest source was reportedly a screening vendor.

Singapore police arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of remotely accessing a media-content server without authorization, downloading an unreleased film and posting parts of it online. Police received a report on April 16 and announced the arrest on April 24. The offence carries up to seven years in jail, a fine of up to S$50,000, or both. Police did not name the film; local and trade outlets identified it as Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender.

Clips first appeared on X on April 11–12 from an account that claimed Nickelodeon had emailed it the film by mistake and threatened to stream the whole thing unless Paramount released a trailer. A full copy then spread online. Variety reported on April 16 that Paramount's investigation found the leak did not come from inside the studio or its systems.

Slate, citing The Hollywood Reporter, said a hack at the screening vendor Vision Media was the most likely source. No public report has linked the arrested man to the X account, and no charge or sentence has been reported.
