Seven Havens Chapter 4 Recap: "The Faceless" and the Search for Uki

Masked raiders rob Ellora, a firebender goes missing, and a note Nisha first misreads ends up pointing Jae and the twins to the Western Gates.

Full spoilers for Chapter 4 of Avatar: Seven Havens.

The masked figures from the end of Chapter 3 finally have a name: the Faceless. Chapter 4 makes them a real problem for Ellora and pairs that threat with a smaller, personal mission: finding a missing member of the Bending Brigade. It arrived on Paramount+ on October 16, alongside Chapters 5 and 6.

A raid gone wrong The Faceless hit Ellora's supplies, and the Bending Brigade under Jae loses the fight. IGN describes them as raiders who take grain and other goods. Uki, a member of Jae's squad, fails to hold them back.

Uki is the Brigade's firebender, voiced by Kimberly Woods. The next day she doesn't show up for breakfast or training, and Jae gets suspicious.

Following the clues Jae, Pavi and Nisha search Uki's room and turn up a drawing of Ellora with a note that Nisha reads as "Portable Sports." Other clues lead them to a kachori shop and then to Uki's home.

Her family is enormous, and But Why Tho points out that it mixes Water Tribe-coded relatives in blue with Fire Nation-coded relatives in orange and red. After the trio bonds with them, a bigger map in Uki's room shows she had been charting the Faceless raids. Nisha realizes the note actually says "Possible Spots," and the pattern points to the Western Gates.

Trouble at the Western Gates The raid is already under way when they get there. The Faceless are smuggling out camel-dillos, armadillo-camel creatures like the corrupted one in Chapter 3, so they can carry more supplies. Pavi and Nisha try to turn the animals and the raider herding them, showing off multiple bending skills, and a Brigade member who sees them realizes the Brigade is hiding the Avatar.

It isn't enough. The Faceless escape with the supplies and the camel-dillos, and Jae spots Uki in their cart, tied up.

Who are the Faceless? Their identity and motives are still unrevealed, FandomWire notes. IGN's Alex Zalben doesn't think they are villains. He reads them as people trying to survive outside the haven and points to a "you should join us" moment at the start of the episode.

New faces and credits Episodes 4 to 6 also introduce Daemin, a waterbender in Jae's squad voiced by Darren Barnet, and Metacritic lists him in this chapter's cast. But Why Tho is already a fan. Woods is the guest on the Chapter 4 episode of Avatar: Braving the Elements, the official podcast, with Barnet in a special segment. Here's more on that episode.

Kenji Ono directed. Wikipedia and But Why Tho credit the script to Lauren Bradley, and Wikipedia lists Li Cree, Grace Liu, Sara Syed and Bobby Alcid Rubio on storyboards.
