Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender Is Now Streaming on Paramount+
Avatar Studios' first feature catches up with an adult Team Avatar about 13 years after the war.
Avatar Studios' first feature arrived worldwide on Paramount+ at 12:00 a.m. PT on July 25. The PG-rated film runs 99 minutes, or about 95 minutes on UK and Irish prints because of a 4% speed-up.
Set about 13 years after the Hundred Year War, it follows an adult Aang, still the only airbender, as he searches for an ancient power that could save Air Nomad culture. Team Avatar races to find it first, and along the way the group thaws out Tagah, an ancient airbender frozen in ice, voiced by Dave Bautista.
Lauren Montgomery directed, with William Mata and Steve Ahn as co-directors, from a screenplay by Tim Hedrick and Christopher Yost. Eric Nam voices Aang, Jessica Matten voices Katara, Román Zaragoza voices Sokka, Dionne Quan voices Toph and Steven Yeun voices Fire Lord Zuko. Dee Bradley Baker, as Appa and Momo, is the only voice actor from the original series back in a main role.
Flying Bark Productions led the animation, with Studio Mir and Studio Ppuri contributing. ComicBook.com reported the budget at about $80 million, a figure Paramount has not confirmed.
