Avatar Aang Reviews: Striking Animation, a Story Some Found Rushed

Critics were mostly positive, and many said the film deserved a wide theatrical release.

Reviews for Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender arrived on July 20 and were mostly positive. Rotten Tomatoes lists 90% from 49 reviews with a 99% Popcornmeter, and Metacritic shows 68 from 13 reviews.

TheWrap's William Bibbiani praised the fluid action and the film's serious treatment of genocide and cycles of violence, but found it rushed and too focused on Aang alone. RogerEbert.com gave it three stars out of four and The Guardian three out of five.

The most common complaints were the pacing and the aged-up versions of the characters, and some reviewers pointed out that Suki does not appear. Many critics said the film should have gone to theaters.
