The Awakening of Roku Closes Randy Ribay's Roku Duology

The sixth Chronicles of the Avatar novel, The Awakening of Roku, came out on December 30, 2025. Three years after the first book, Roku is pulled off his travels by an illness spreading in the North and works with Gyatso and the waterbender Makittuq to contain it.

Ribay, who also wrote The Reckoning of Roku (2024), returns for the next book, The Tempest of Sonam, due July 20, 2027.

That novel centers on Sonam, the ancient Avatar introduced in the Avatar Aang film, and is set thousands of years before Aang, before the Four Nations existed.
