Seven Havens Episodes 1 to 3: The Biggest Reveals

A storm spirit that looks a lot like Vaatu, a White Lotus captain and masked strangers watching Ellora.

Spoilers for Chapters 1 to 3 of Avatar: Seven Havens follow.

The first three episodes set up a world that has spent more than two centuries blaming the Avatar for its ruin. Here is what they established.

A city built on fear Chapter 1 opens on Ellora's festival marking Korra's downfall, complete with a children's play about the Cataclysm and the founding of the havens. Characters describe Korra as vanquished or defeated. Fewer benders are born every year, so Ellora makes every known bender register for the Bending Brigade, which guards the city against the wastes outside. The havens don't trust one another.

The twins Pavi is 9, an amputee living on the streets outside the walls. Jae, a guard, sees her earthbend and then airbend during a tornado. Her twin Nisha has spent three years as the secret ward of Captain Karthik. In Chapter 3, a lullaby Pavi plays on a kalimba unlocks a shared memory of their mother, and the sisters agree to train with Jae and look for their parents.

The storm In Chapter 2 a huge storm hits Ellora, carrying a spirit that can possess people and animals. Variety identifies it as a version of Vaatu, the dark spirit from The Legend of Korra. The episode never says his name, though, and the official synopsis calls it only a strange entity. When the twins trap its glowing red core, they are pulled into a vision of what looks like the Cataclysm. The attack leaves red crystals across the city.

The White Lotus, and a new threat After the attack, Karthik is promoted to commander of the Bending Brigade and tells Jae he belongs to the Order of the White Lotus. Ellora's leaders reject his push to contact the other havens. The last shot shows masked figures looking down on Ellora as their next target. Nobody has said who they are.

Chapters 4 to 6, "The Faceless," "The One Left Behind" and "Night of the Afflicted," arrive on October 16.
