Critics Love Seven Havens; Viewers Are More Divided
A perfect Rotten Tomatoes score sits next to a mixed Metacritic user rating, and the animation draws most of the complaints.
Avatar: Seven Havens launched with strong reviews. Rotten Tomatoes lists 100% positive from 20 critics with an average of 7.9 out of 10, and Metacritic gives it 80 from 11 reviews. Critics saw six episodes ahead of the premiere.
Audience scores are lower. The Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter is 80%, while Metacritic users rate the show 5.5 out of 10 from 63 ratings.
The animation is the main sticking point. GamesRadar+ faulted inconsistent animation and action that can be hard to follow, and Gizmodo called the premiere a little rocky but promising. Kotaku described the reviews as a turnaround for a show some fans had dismissed as cheap-looking after its trailer.
