Report: Avatar Studios' Secret Water Tribe Series Is About Kuruk

Knight Edge Media's scoop was confirmed in October, but several of its details are still unverified.

Unconfirmed report. This story is based on leaks or outside reporting that the studio has not confirmed.

Knight Edge Media reported on August 15 that the unannounced Water Tribe series it had been tracking since 2025 was a Paramount+ prequel about Avatar Kuruk. A day earlier, it had reported a US trademark filing by Paramount's Viacom International for 'Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos.'

The outlet said the show was developed under the working titles Red Thunder and then Metal Mountain, was reworked for younger viewers, had a 20-episode commitment, and had Migizi Pensoneau as co-showrunner. In September it added reported character names: Kuruk's friends Misunka and Hopa, and a waterbending teacher called Gawose who hunts him.

The premise and title were confirmed at NYCC on October 9, along with Kuruk's pet Nikik. The working titles, episode count, character names and Pensoneau's role remain unconfirmed. Paramount credits Bryan Konietzko as showrunner.
