Is Korra Dead in Seven Havens? What the Show Has Said So Far

Minor spoilers for the first three episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens.

It's the question every Korra fan is asking. Here's what the first three episodes actually say.

What the show tells us The people of Ellora blame Korra for the Cataclysm that shattered the world. The city's festival includes a children's play about it, and Captain Karthik calls her an enemy of the world. JustWatch points out that characters describe her as "vanquished" or "defeated," but never say she died. A trailer shot shows an older Korra with gray hair.

What it doesn't The show hasn't explained what the Cataclysm was, how Korra was involved, or why no Avatar seems to have come between her and the new generation. Normally an Avatar is reborn right after the previous one dies, so that gap is a mystery of its own.

What the creators say Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have pushed back on the idea that the show is down on Korra, and DiMartino says there's more to her story than the first episodes show. Janet Varney, Korra's voice actor, asked fans to keep the faith.

Chapters 4 to 6 arrive on Paramount+ October 16. Our episode schedule has every date.
