Seven Havens Slips Korra and Asami into Chapter 5, Plus the Korra Ties Confirmed So Far

Spoilers through Chapter 5 of Avatar: Seven Havens.

Korra and Asami finally kiss in Avatar: Seven Havens. Sort of.

In Chapter 5, "The One Left Behind," which arrived on Paramount+ on October 16, Pavi and Nisha sneak into Karthik's office to look for answers about their parents, per the official synopsis. Gizmodo reports that the twins find a hidden door there, and that Karthik turns out to be a collector of Avatar artifacts: a Blue Spirit mask, a Republic City-era radio and action figures from Korra's era. While Nisha searches the room, Pavi grabs the Korra and Asami figures and makes them kiss, sound effects included. Gizmodo counts it as the couple's first on-screen kiss in the Avatar universe.

Why it lands with Korrasami fans

The Legend of Korra's 2014 finale ended with Korra and Asami holding hands and walking into a spirit portal for a vacation, with no kiss. Co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have confirmed the couple as canon, Gizmodo notes, and the later graphic novel series The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars showed their vacation and a kiss drawn by Irene Koh.

The other Korra ties so far

• The radio. Gizmodo says the Republic City-era radio in Karthik's collection plays a major role in plot developments tied to the other havens.
• An unused Korra project. DiMartino told CBR that he and Konietzko were developing multiple projects when they started Avatar Studios, and that some of the show's Korra ideas came from "a Korra thing we were developing." So, he said, the team already knew what caused the Cataclysm.
• A tech boom. DiMartino told Animation Magazine it was almost as if Korra's era had a big tech boom, and that viewers will learn where that era was heading.
• Lost machines. Screen Rant points out that Korra-era trains, planes and mecha suits are long gone.

How far apart are the two shows?

Screen Rant dates The Legend of Korra from 170 AG to 174 AG. Citing co-executive producer Sehaj Sethi, it says Seven Havens is set 225 years after Korra, which puts it at roughly 399 AG. Our watch order guide lays out the full timeline.

A quick Korra refresher

Collider's refresher recalls that in Season 2, Korra lost her connection to her past lives when Raava was severed from her, and she chose to leave the bridge between the spirit and material worlds open. Countless non-benders then gained airbending in Season 3. After Kuvira's defeat, Korra went on vacation with Asami.

What isn't confirmed

The creators are keeping what Korra did under wraps. Collider notes that citizens of Ellora talk about the Cataclysm as a direct consequence of Korra's actions, and DiMartino told CBR that what happened in her time, how she was involved and why people think she destroyed the world are all part of the show's big mystery.

Republic City's fate is open too: Collider says teasers briefly show Korra breathing fire and wreaking havoc on "what seems to be Republic City," which is a reading of the footage, not a confirmed location. We track the rest in Is Korra dead in Seven Havens?, and our Chapter 5 recap covers the whole chapter.
